Giorgio Armani reinvents a legendary fragrance. Introducing the profoundly sensual Acqua Di Giò Profumo, born from volcanic rock and deep ocean waters. A new mineral intensity created by Alberto Morillas: the master perfumer behind the pure essence of Acqua Di Giò. For this latest opus, the fresh bergamot and marine accords are paired with the deep, captivating radiance of incense – an inspiring and seductive rich material, holding a special fascination for Giorgio Armani.
Creating an elusive trail, Acqua Di Giò Profumo reconciles the impossible: finding harmony in the contrast of a simple form and the complexity of a composition, between freshness and opacity, from the darkest stone to the most crystalline blue of the sea.
A myth reborn
Acqua Di Giò Profumo is a sophisticated, flawless fragrance. Opposing airy lightness and unfathomable depths to cut a trail as sharp as the crest of a wave. The story of a man and freedom where the sea meets the shore burnt black by the sun. In the fusion of rocks and water, the power and perfection of nature is made tangible. A dry, incandescent nature, whose mineral essence vibrates against the skin. Reinterpreting the legendary Acqua Di Giò in a new olfactive key with enveloping incense notes.
Woody, aromatic, aquatic: Acqua Di Giò Profumo is an intensely masculine fragrance. The elixir opens in a single wave of spices and citrus notes of elemi and bergamot. The heart erupts with geranium, sage and rosemary – pulsing as it warms the skin to release a recognizable cloud of patchouli and incense.
The reflection of raw nature
With its simple lines and minimalist purity, the bottle of Acqua Di Giò Profumo recalls a black stone, polished by the waves of an eternal sea. Purity so somber it becomes transparent. Iconic. Dark. It awakens the senses as it reflects desire. Like a mineral talisman, it recounts a legend. From a rock, cleaved from the cliffs and concentrated with mythical strength, a man is born free, in perfect osmosis with water.
Three creations… A natural harmony
Acqua Di Giò pour Homme (1996): The timeless sensation of a wave rising up to challenge the sun.
Acqua Di Giò Essenza (2012): An eclectic fusion of elements enriched with sensual wooden notes.
Acqua Di Giò Profumo (2015): Deeply sophisticated and intensely masculine, an ode to mineral freshness symbolizing the merging of sea and rock.
Acqua di Giò…. The Saga Continues…
The simplicity of a universal myth
Classic among classics: a concentrate of elegance, Acqua di Giò is the scent of energy and freedom, an ode to nature and its perfection, to man and his virility. New intensity, new chapter: Acqua di Giò Profumo – black, deep and sensual – blazes the trail of a myth. The deep and luminous fragrance completely reinvents this symbol of male perfumery, with a dry, mineral freshness that further increases its vibrancy on the skin. After Acqua di Giò and Acqua di Giò Essenza, this third opus retains the fresh bergamot notes and marine accents while creating a new depth through the addition of incense and patchouli.
A cinemagraphic aura
World renowned photographers and directors have contributed to the history of Acqua di Giò: Herb Ritts (American fashion photographer inspired by ancient Greek statuary) led the way twenty years ago, followed by Peter Lindbergh and Bruce Weber. As the story continues, Giorgio Armani has chosen Jacob Sutton, an expert in stop motion technology, to direct the films, and photographer Matthew Brookes for the print campaign. The new episode, Acqua di Giò Profumo, reveals a man at one with nature, enthralled by freedom and serenity. His body, magnified by the black and white film, is born of its fusion with black rock… a concentrate of terrestrial forces. American model Jason Morgan was chosen to embody this new masculinity.
Two surprising films
Celebrating the power of nature, the Acqua di Giò Profumo advertising film was shot in the British Pinewood studios, with a spectacular recreation of black rocks as a sort of original matrix. And to further emphasize the enduring quality of this olfactory icon, a timeless classic that goes beyond fashion and convention, an entirely new Acqua di Giò film was shot, both in Sardinia and Pinewood, where the sea, in all its magnificence, has been carefully “bottled” in giant tanks.
Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Profumo will be available from Giorgio Armani fragrance counters nationwide from May 1st with the following recommended retail prices:
