Yes I know, Summer is upon us and I’m super late sharing these spring favourites with you but I just had to share them anyways because I am still utterly in love with all of them! And in all honestly, I expect many of these to remain favourites throughout the summer as well!
Please note, some of the products mentioned have been sent to me over the past year for consideration, which under my disclaimer makes parts of this post #sponsored. They are marked with a *, all other products have been purchased by me or given as gifts by my husband James.
I think you’ll quickly notice that all my favourites have something in common.
Spring Favourites: Black, Gold & Sparkle
Yes, it seems like a theme, and also a pretty cool insta pic too but bear with me below while I tell you why these are all must haves!
In no particular order…
Sparkly Phone Case from Penneys
This I have about 2 years and I paid about €3 for it. It doesn’t offer any protection but it’s nice and sparkly and great for when you’re heading out and what to jazz up your phone!
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
James got my a lovely Estee Lauder Gift Set at Christmas. The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum was included. To be honest, I’d never used any of their products before bar some eye shadow palettes.
It’s not something I use every night. To be honest I actually really dislike the scent of it. I’m still trying to decide if its a ‘bad’ smell… I think it smells stale… does that make sense? I think it’s their ‘signature’ scent though as I also got the the Estee Lauder Advanced Cleansing Foam and it has the same ‘stale’ smell.
You do have to shake it up well before using but when I do use it, I do wake up with lovely smooth skin the morning after. I put it on after I’ve cleansed and toned my skin and before I moisturise.
This stuff is pricey though, I’ve seen it listed between €67 – €84 per 30ml bottle and while I like it a lot, I certainly would not pay that for it! So if you get it in a gift box like I did do a happy dance, if not, walk on by, it’s not great enough for you to part with €67!
Kabuki Brush from Penneys
What I’m going to say will probably sound weird to most of you. I love this particular brush, which was either €4.50 or €3.50 because it’s not super soft! Why, well I just sometimes need a heftier brush to apply bronze… particularly around my body. As the days get longer and brighter and even though I should just use a bit of fake tan to brighten up my otherwise translucent skin some days a bit of bronzer does the trick. And on some of those days, you need to apply a little more [read: a lot more]. On those days a soft little brush doesn’t cut the mustard… that is where this brush comes in!
Gold Sparkle Clutch with Faux Diamond Detail from TX Maxx
I have this one a while ladies, maybe even 3-4 years. It only cost me €16.99 at the time in TX Maxx [ TJ Maxx for those of you from the USA]. It is tiny of the inside, doesn’t really carry much at all. Even my iPhone 5S is a bit of a squeeze but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It will glam up any outfit and I always get LOADS of compliments on it.
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine – Clear*
This is the sexiest ‘lip balm’ I own. Yes I know, it’s so much more than a lip balm and yes at between €26 – €33 per stick it’s not the cheapest, but for god sake look at how gorgeous it is! This is sex in your makeup bag. Not only for its sexiness, but also because it feels utterly great on. It’s not terribly long lasting [ in the smooth silky feeling] department – then again, you just want to keep taking it out to reapply so that is ok in my book! Mine is clear as you’ll see above but it is available in different shades too.
P.s. makes kissing very senuous 😉
Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow in Zap*
Whenever I first see a new Urban Decay palette or eyeshadow I often think they’re a little bonkers! They come out with the most far out shades and combinations in these amazing luminous and sparkly colours and I wonder who wears them. Then I try them, and I realise it’s me!
As the name suggests this is a liquid eyeshadow, which for me, was a bit of a first. You apply to your lids a little like you would a lip gloss and because I’ve deep set sockets I had to keep my eyes closed for a minute or two to allow it to drop but I really liked the colour pop and the precision application I could achieve with the tapered brush applicator. Which means you can also use it as an eyeliner too – double score!
They retail for about €19.00 each in a whole host of gorgeous colours, I have Zap [Gold with hints of copper to you and I] which I’ve featured in this post and also Magnetic [Metallic Purple to the rest of us].
Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter in Coral
So I’ve already mentioned the sexiest ‘lip balm’ above, and so this is the cutest ‘lip balm’/ tint. The jar is smaller than this picture leads you to believe, but it’s such a cute product and I love how it looks sitting on my dresser or desk. While the opening of the jar is just perfection for applying with your ring finger because it’s a tint I would suggest you use a lip brush unless you’re instantly going to wash your fingers. The tint is just that, a tint, so if you’re looking for something with full colour this is not the product for you. I’d also avoid having it ‘live in’ your make up bag, the pointed top can catch you unawares sometimes!
This one is on the treat end of the scale at about €11.00 per 0.12oz pot.
The Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette from Essence
I’m never quite sure if The Essence Range is cool to use or the makeup of tweens. The one thing I can’t argue with is its value for the price. If memory serves this was around €3.60. I buy Essence products mostly in Penneys. In this palette, I adore the Rose Highlighter [ the middle shade] and use it to highlight my cheeks and eyebrow line. Great coverage and shimmer.
Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation in Rose Beige
I love this foundation. I’ll actually have a comparison between Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation and the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear coming very soon so keep an eye out. But a fountain you can buy for last €9.00 that covers as well as this and works well with my pores is the business. It definitely doesn’t last up to 24hrs for me… nothing close… although I would say a very decent working day. I would certainly reapply in the evening it I was going out. And I’m slightly obsessed with the little dropper applicator it has!
Viktor & Rolf Eau de Parfum Bonbon*
I love a sweetly seductive scent and that is certainly what you get with this Eau de Parfum. For me, it’s definitely more of a Winter scent… until the New Year starts… thenI feel you’d need to change to something a little lighter.
Am I alone in wearing my scents by the season and sometimes by the month?
Viktor & Rolf Eau de Parfum Bonbon for me is definitely best worn during November & December. It’s alluring and seductive and works best with roaring fires, little black dresses and heated snuggles on a couch! Because I celebrate spring in Ireland we still have roaring fires and heated snuggles on a couch so it still works 😉
This heavenly bottle will set you back about €66.00
Swarovski Black Ribbon Pendant
I’m a big Swarovski fan and have many, many pieces. Both my brother & husband regularly buy me pieces to celebrate birthdays and Christmas. This particular one is a few seasons old. It’s actually called [by my husband and me] ‘the little box of positive thoughts’… he gave it to me for Christmas, we were particularly broke that year and he was worried he wouldn’t be able to afford a gift for me. I told him he could give me a little box of positive thoughts instead. When I opened it up this was inside. I keep much of my Swarovski boxed up, but this one is always on display because of its special meaning to me.
I’ve looked and looked and it doesn’t seem like this is part of their collection anymore. Its probably 4-5 years old now. But really, is there anything in Swarovski that isn’t gorgeous?
Steph Black T-Bar Stilettos from 4th and Reckless*
Ok, can I get a little real here? I adore T-bar Stilettos … I think there is something so sexy about them. BUT, I’m a plus size gal and so that don’t always fit my ankles – which leads to tears. When I first received these, despite having checked with the Rep. I was a little nervous. In fact, the first time I tried them on I didn’t think they would tie. But, guess what, they did… and they were stunning.
These babies are high [for me]! BUT they are surprisingly comfortable. I wouldn’t squarely put them in the car to bar category you could certainly throw some moves on the dancefloor in them for sure as well. But there is a limited for me.
They are velvety which is super glam, even though I feel like it should be cringe and the cuff detail around the ankle does wonders for your calves. If you’re looking for something that is sexy and works well with trousers and dresses/ skirts check these out, they’re a bargain at only £18.00 [ Normally priced at £28.00]!
Lacura Face Care Caviar Illumination Day Cream [ Night Cream as well!]
Does magic in a jar say enough? I’ve been using the Day an Night Cream for over a year now and buy them both in Aldi for less than €9 a pot with my groceries. And to me it is the best. I’ve heard it compared to La Prairie equivalent – Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer which is nearly €375 more expensive. It leaves my skin smooth and silky and utter mositurised throughout the day. It works great underneath my makeup too.
Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster
I’ve just realised I’ve included a lot of lip products in my Spring 2017 Favourites. I actually wouldn’t consider myself a big lip product person, but clearly, I am. This might sound weird, but I like how tingly this makes my lips feel like I can actually feel it working. I mostly wear it under another product but it does tint my lips a little so could be worn on its own if you wanted a more neutral look.
Clairns Eye Quartet Mineral Palette – 11 Forest
Time for me to be a little sad again. I love how this looks in my makeup bag. It’s great for weekends away, applies really well and I like the selection of colours for day and evening looks. And of course, like with my spring theme, it’s got plenty of sparkle!
So they are all my Spring 2017 Beauty & Accessories Favourites… have you used any of them? What are you loving this spring time? Let me know in the comments below.
