In today’s world, travelling is more about taking photos and sharing them on social media than anything else. When you are packing for a vacation, the first thing on your mind will be the camera that you have to take along. If you are going with your family and friends, getting great candid photos and full pictures of your outfit with the perfect backdrop is no hassle. However, if you are on the journey alone, it sure does become a huge struggle.
To solve your problem, I have some ideas for you that I have tried out myself while travelling alone and trust me; your pictures can turn out the best using them. So, what are you waiting for? Read through and thank me later!
Turn on the Timer
Almost all the people today have smartphones that carry great camera features which include a self-timer as well. Use it to take your photo when you have nobody to take it for you. Just set up your camera and let the timer begin the countdown. Go back and make a pose until the camera clicks and voila! You have got a great full picture of yourself with the background.
Ask a Passersby
Now, this one is the easiest of all but you may have to be very polite and find a person who is not already engaged in taking their own photos. This way you can get a good picture while you make a new acquaintance as well. After all, travelling alone is all about getting to know new people and their culture. Make sure you know a few keywords in their language.
Use Your Car’s Dash Cam
Being on a road trip with all the beautiful views on the way and being unable to capture them as a background in your photos because you are driving really hurts. In such a case, your car’s dash cam acts like a life-saver. You can record your whole journey using it while you comfortably drive and pose at the same time.
Another less common, yet interesting idea, is to use reflections for taking a full picture of yourself. Wherever you find a mirror or a glass door that reflects or even water, just make use of it to take creative photos of yourself.
Use the Burst Mode
Another great feature in your camera is for all those people out there who are never satisfied with the first photo in a pose. You can turn on your burst mode and pose differently while the camera takes many photos at once and then you can pick out the best one. You can also use this burst mode by setting up your camera somewhere and going far back and jumping in the air. That turns out really fun and interesting.
