Today on my YouTube Channel and I share a twist on the Cook with Me theme; How to make your own homemade cat and dog food. Due to fussy cats and a sensitive dog I’ve recently started to batch cook my pets food myself. I’ll preface this by saying I do complement my homemade food with store-bought dry food and some snacks and treats for my dog.

What am I batch cooking this week?
So this week you’ll see me cook up:
- 5x 500g packets of Chicken strips
- 400ml of Rice
- 5x Carrots
- 1x Parsnips
- 300g of Green Beans
Everything is boiled – making this very easy to do!
The chicken is covered with water, 1 inch above the chicken, brought to the boil and then boiled on high for 10 minutes. Then cover with a lid, turn off the heat and let sit for a further 10 minutes. Once cooled they are chopped into bite-sized pieces.
The rice is covered in water, 1 inch above the rice, brought to the boil, simmered on low for 10 minutes. Then cover with a lid, turn off the heat and let sit for a further 20 minutes.
Carrots & Parsnips are peeled and chopped into bite size pieces, covered in water – 1 inch above, brought to the boil and boiled for 8-10 minutes.
Green Beans are covered in water, again 1 inch above, brought to the boil and boiled on high for 8 minutes. Once cooled they are chopped into bite-sized pieces.
For my Dog:
I mix her chicken, rice and vegetable in a large bowl and then divide into two large lunch boxes; storing one in the fridge and freezing the second for later in the week/ another week.
For my Cats:
I divide their bite-sized chicken between two large lunch boxes; storing one in the fridge and freezing the second for later in the week/ another week.
As you can see and read, its super simple and really doesn’t take that much time at all.
